Stories of the Void is an independent website about existential, cosmic, philosophical, and weird horror literature. This page explains the third-party services currently used by the site and the information that may be processed when you visit.

Advertising and Google AdSense

Stories of the Void uses Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve, measure, and personalize advertising. Google may use information about visits to this site and other sites to provide advertising where permitted.

Google states that advertising cookies may be associated with Google domains, including DoubleClick-related domains, and that ad-related requests may occur on pages that contain Google ad tags even when a visible ad is not displayed.

You can manage personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings. More information about how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services is available in Google's partner-sites privacy information.

Consent for Advertising

Where required, advertising consent should be collected through a consent-management mechanism that is compatible with Google's requirements. Google requires publishers serving personalized ads to users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland to use a Google-certified consent management platform that integrates with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework.

Analytics and Tracking

Stories of the Void does not currently load Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, or a separate first-party analytics script. If that changes, this policy should be updated before the new service is deployed.

Third-Party Content and Services

The site uses some third-party resources to provide functionality and presentation. These currently include:

  • Google AdSense for advertising and related measurement.
  • Hardcover as a source of attributed community book-rating data. The site stores a local snapshot of this data rather than requiring visitors' browsers to query Hardcover directly.
  • Content delivery networks for libraries such as jQuery and Font Awesome.
  • External book-cover hosts for some cover images, including publisher, author, bibliographic, and public-domain sources.

When your browser requests a resource from a third-party host, that provider necessarily receives request information needed to deliver the resource, such as your IP address and browser request headers. Their handling of that information is governed by their own policies.

Server and Request Information

Web hosting and security infrastructure may receive standard request information such as IP address, browser or user-agent information, requested URL, referring page, and request time. This information may be used to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and maintain the site.

Information You Submit

Stories of the Void does not currently provide user accounts, comments, or a site-hosted contact form and does not currently collect information directly from visitors through those features.

Children's Privacy

Stories of the Void is a general-audience literature site and is not directed to children. The site does not knowingly solicit personal information from children.

Your Choices

You can control cookies through your browser settings and can manage Google ad personalization through Google Ads Settings. Depending on where you live, additional privacy rights may apply under applicable law.

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated when site functionality, advertising, analytics, or applicable requirements change. The date at the top of this page identifies the current version.
